ZELDA XL!

Shiny, gold, luxurious: These are the three words that came to mind when my eyes first met with the

3DS XL : Zelda edition. Yes, Nintendo has released TONS of limited edition XL bundles all over the world. Most of them have, personally, been “meh” for me. (Besides the Pikachu one – but the yellow cutie had nipples which really freaked me out…) But THIS bundle? My lord, I saw the article and my jaw literally dropped. I KNEW I had to have it! Zelda is a classic that really made Nintendo….well what Nintendo is today. It was one of my first games. Some of my oldest memories stem from countless hours playing various Zelda games. They hold a special place in my little pixilated heart.

Now I have had so many DS systems that I have had to sell for financial purposes. So I can already tell you that the DS (XL or not) is one of my all time favorite systems. It offers portability, stunning graphics, and a humungous selection of games. I really am crossing my fingers I never have to give up my precious Zelda XL.

I have not beat A Link Between Worlds yet. This is mainly because my weekend was consumed with Xbox One as well. Also because it is my only game for the console right now, so I want to make it last as long as possible. I’d say I’m halfway through the game, if that. My rating thus far would have to be 10/10. Is that biased? Probably. But my eyes have been glued to my 3ds screen a majority of my weekend. It’s so addicting! I am in love with the new feature of merging into surfaces. It really adds a fresh feel to the game. Of course, the original aspects of Zelda games that fans everywhere love are still present – hidden treasures & passages, a stellar soundtrack, & intense combat. Rupees are EVERYWHERE. They are extremely easy to find and collect in this game, which is a relief because if you die – all rented weapons are collected & need to be rented again. All the prices for weapons & items are so reasonable too. I rented all the weapons at one time when Ravio’s shop first opened. (is that cheating…?) So that was just towards the beginning of the game when I started at zero.

Another part to the story line that I enjoyed was finding Maimais. There are 100 scattered throughout

the game. It’s just a little side mission that is fun to do. They are too cute those little pink sea critters!

I was looking at reviews all over the internet for this game, and almost every single one I have checked

out is a 10/10. So I guess I’m not being biased after all! Even if you don’t purchase the limited edition

(I’m not really sure how many are left to buy) you should definitely get the game, for sure! It’s

everything it’s hyped to be, and more if I do say so myself. If I have to be picky, my only complaint is that with the XL bundle, it’s only a download code for the game. A physical copy is not offered. As my own kind of OCD, I just have to own a physical copy of something I truly admire (books, cds, what have you) so I will probably in the future pick up a physical copy. But, if you so choose, you can sell your download code and buy the game yourself. So no worries!
